内容提要:

The ashes of fuels will undergo a number of transformations during high temperature conversion processes, e.g. from the formation of the first mineral phases at low temperatures over the transformation of mineral phases and the release ash species into the gas phase at intermediate temperatures up to the melting of the ashes at high temperatures. Several of these ash-related aspects are causing technical issues, like fouling, sintering, slagging, and agglomeration, as well as some positive ones, like catalytic effects of selected ash species during the conversion. For a reliable operation of the plants in various conversion processes (combustion, gasification, pyrolysis etc.), it is required to understanding and predicting the ash behavior for comparable and new ash systems.

In this presentation, FactSage™ calculations are applied to ashes reproducing inter alia the mineral phases and their transformations, the ash fusion behavior as well as the slagging properties and the slag infiltration into different refractory materials. This includes the ashes of coals, biomasses, and wastes/residual materials at typical temperature ranges representing the transformations that the ashes will undergo in the real process. The achieved results by the FactSage™ calculations are always related to those obtained by various experimental methods, including X-ray diffraction, ash fusion temperatures, scanning electron microscopy etc. Additionally, the typical limitations of the thermochemical calculations and the quality of their prediction with respect to the experiment are discussed.
